Junior Professorship (W1) in Empirical Research on Language Education at the University of Lüneburg – Application deadline 8th September

The Fa­cul­ty of Edu­ca­ti­on at tof Lüne­burg in­vi­tes ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons for the afo­re­men­tio­ned Ju­ni­or Pro­fes­sor­ship (W1) in Empirical Research on Language and Education.

Your re­se­arch in­te­rest lies at the in­ter­face of lan­gua­ge and edu­ca­ti­on. Using cle­ar re­se­arch de­signs and in­no­va­ti­ve em­pi­ri­cal re­se­arch me­thods, you in­ves­ti­ga­te the role of lan­gua­ge pre­re­qui­si­tes, con­di­ti­ons and pro­ces­ses in the con­texts of school and edu­ca­ti­on. You pro­mo­te pro­fes­sio­nal and con­struc­tive dis­cour­se with lea­ding, in­ter­na­tio­nal­ly re­now­ned uni­ver­si­ties and crea­te an in­s­pi­ring and com­mit­ted re­se­arch and teaching-learning en­vi­ron­ment. Ide­al­ly, your re­se­arch pro­fi­le should be in­ter­di­sci­pli­na­ry and give evi­dence of:
* A profound background and expertise in the research field „Language and Education”;
* Experience in the application, conception and implementation of research projects;
* Relevant publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals;
* Experience in productive cooperation in interdisciplinary research collaborations.

You sha­re the idea of the Uni­ver­si­ty as an edu­ca­tio­nal com­mu­ni­ty and make use of the many op­por­tu­nities for re­se­arch co­ope­ra­ti­on wi­t­hin the Fa­cul­ty of Edu­ca­ti­on and the ent­i­re Uni­ver­si­ty. You have a very good know­ledge of the Eng­lish lan­gua­ge and are pre­pa­red to teach cour­ses in Eng­lish. If you have no Ger­man lan­gua­ge skills, you are ex­pec­ted to be wil­ling to ac­qui­re suf­fi­ci­ent Ger­man lan­gua­ge skills wi­t­hin a re­a­sonable pe­ri­od of time.

The em­ploy­ment re­qui­re­ments are go­ver­ned by § 30 (2) of the Uni­ver­si­ties Act of Lo­wer Sa­x­o­ny (Nie­dersäch­si­sches Hoch­schul­ge­setz, NHG) and in­clu­de:

A successfully completed university degree in psychology, educational sciences, linguistics, didactics, social sciences or another appropriate field;
A special ability to engage in independent scholarly work, as demonstrated by having received an above average grade for your doctoral degree;
A pedagogical-didactic aptitude as demonstrated by experience and the use of innovative teaching methods.

The po­si­ti­on of ju­ni­or pro­fes­sor (m/d/f) will be re­mu­n­e­ra­ted ac­cor­ding to pay gra­de W1 and is in­iti­al­ly li­mi­ted to a pe­ri­od of three ye­ars. The po­si­ti­on may be ex­ten­ded for an ad­di­tio­nal three ye­ars, sub­ject to the avail­a­bi­li­ty of funds and a po­si­ti­ve aca­de­mic eva­lua­ti­on (in ac­cor­dance with the gui­de­li­nes for the mid-term eva­lua­ti­on of ju­ni­or pro­fes­sors of Leu­pha­na Uni­ver­si­ty of Lüne­burg).
